The 16 days Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar Summit starts with a thrilling flight to Lukla. You walk on the same route that was first taken by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa back in 1953. The trek has trails that visit major highlights of the Khumbu region, like the celebrated Himalayan town of Namche Bazaar, the spiritual Tengboche Monastery, the Sagarmatha National Park (a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the vantage points of Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp from where the panorama of the Everest (8848m)  massif is simply unprecedented. Hiking along Himalayan pastures and lively Sherpa villages and settlements, the trekking journey is accentuated with majestic sights of the many peaks of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range. Complimented by the verdant blooming of rhododendrons in colours of red, white and pink set against the silver mountains, the Trek to Kalapatthar Summit is composed of one of the most beautiful trans-Himalayan terrains on the planet. Consisting of dramatic river valleys eclipsed by lofty peaks and occupied by the ethnic Sherpa people, the trekking journey is one that will forever be embedded into the minds of all those who undergo it.

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be picked up by one of our office representatives and he/she will escort you to the hotel. Have some rest, and in the evening, you will meet the guide who will brief you about the trek. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Today you will visit four major places of Kathmandu which are listed as UNESCO’s world heritage sites. You will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. The woodwork, metalwork, and stone masonry did on the windows, doors and pillars of the old temples and buildings are just incredible and reflect Nepali arts and crafts. After the city tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel for the overnight.

Early in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your short 30-minute Lukla flight. You can immediately feel the change in the atmosphere upon landing in Lukla; the green hills and the beautiful Himalayan town are quite serene compared to the bustling capital. From here, you will then trek towards Phakding—another popular Himalayan village that is situated just north of Lukla. It is a rather easy trek where you can enjoy the tranquil ambience of the Khumbu region. Overnight in a hotel.

Leaving Phakding behind, you will walk alongside the gushing Dudh Koshi River through beautiful rhododendron forests. You will enter Monjo, the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park and continue walking to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is one of the famous commercial hubs of the Khumbu Region. Stay overnight in the hotel.

This day is specially reserved for acclimatization in order to avoid altitude sickness.
