Itinerary

Day 01:Drive from Pokhara (822m) to Ulleri (1,960m) through Nayapul and Hile, and trek to Ghorepani (2,880m)

Your 2 Days Poon Hill trek itinerary Pokhara begins early in the morning as you say goodbye to city life and take off on a scenic drive towards Ulleri. The ride is along winding roads passing through the vibrant towns of Nayapul (1,070 m) and Hile (1,430 m), both gateways to the Annapurna area. Throughout the journey, there are cascading waterfalls, green terraced fields, and a glimpse of white peaks in the distance. The journey itself is a memorable one, as it introduces you to rural Nepal and its landscape. When we reach Ulleri, the road ends and the trekking begins.

We start trekking uphill from Ulleri on stone steps and forest paths. The path rises gradually through lush rhododendron and oak forest, the beauty of spring and the cool shade of summer making the trek refreshing. As we ascend, you will start noticing the glimpses of peaks like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna behind the trees, rewarding us with each step for our labor. We pass by tiny villages, tea houses, and friendly locals. After around 4–5 hours of walking, we arrived at Ghorepani (2,880 m), a small village surrounded by mountains. Here, we sit in a peaceful teahouse, eat a warm meal, and rest.

Day 02:Poon Hill sunrise view (3,210m), then trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540m) and back drive to Pokhara (822m)

We begin the second day early, with dawn, for the jewel of the 2 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. With a headlamp to brighten our way, we set off on the short but steep climb up to the famous viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,210 m). We reach the top in approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, just as the early morning sunlight touches the giant summits. The view is nothing short of spectacular, with the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Nilgiri, and more than 20 snow peaks glimmering with golden and pink light. We spent the morning basking in the view and snapping a few photos before descending back down to Ghorepani for breakfast prior to descending.

We descend from Ghorepani on a forest path winding through small Gurung and Magar villages, where old buildings and rice terrace fields recall rural Himalayan life. After trekking for about 3–4 hours, we reach Tikhedhunga (1,540 m), where your transport is waiting. You are then taken comfortably back to Pokhara, reaching the city in the evening. With the Annapurna Himalayas still at the back of your mind and the warm touch of local hospitality still lingering, you will be returning with memories of this short but incredibly satisfying 2-day trek.

When is the Best Time for the 2 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek?

Like every other trek, the 2 Days Poon Hill Trekking route offers the best when done in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These periods offer clear skies, settled weather, and stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

In spring, the rhododendron forests are blooming and colorful, making the trail visually appealing. On the other hand, fall has cool weather and beautiful mountain views and is therefore the most appropriate time for the 2 Days trek.

Although you can attempt this trek during other seasons, we advise against the monsoon (June to August) because of slippery trails and poor visibility, and winter (December to February) because of low temperatures and chances of snowfall in higher elevations such as Poon Hill.
