this adventure. Actually they manage perfectly my short time and all the noisy
burocratic thinks like documents or Covid control. They makes me feel safely and
had care of me since the moment I reserved .. now I’m at home and still feel the
power of their experience, friendship and good nature. They makes me “enter” in
the Nepali lifestyle, from metropolitan Kathmandu until the top of the mountain
were the vibes are soo deep. Their good vibes are compatible with all, Sumir had a
clinical yogi eye and Narayan the calm you need to arrive over the clouds.. it was

A great & well organised experience. I highly recommend Himalayan
recreation to anyone planning to trek to the Annapurna Basecamp. Everything from
start to finish was all taken care of, taking away all of the stress of
organisation so that I could focus on enjoying the trek.
Ashok was very responsive on whatsapp at all times and was able to adapt the tour
when circumstances changed. For example, when my flight to Pokhara was cancelled,
Ashok arranged for a friendly driver to take me all the way there by private car
instead (I did have to wait 1.5 hours for the driver, but traffic in Kathmandu is
difficult). My guide Santosh and porter Bal were very friendly and accommodating
and were good company during the trek. They have the English skills required to
answer the majority of questions, particularly relating to the trek. Overall, a
very good experience.
The trek itself is very beautiful. It has everything, including rural villages
with rice terraces, bamboo forests, and epic mountains. The accommodation is basic
but everything you need for a trek (much better than camping). The weather
forecast is inaccurate - I enjoyed decent weather despite the forecast being
constant rain/thunder. I found the difficulty to be much easier than others state,
and could have completed the trek in 5-6 days. Almost anyone with a decent level
of fitness would be able to complete this trek (adjusting the duration to
The Annupurna Poon Hill Trip is a lovely trek through the lower elevations of the
Annupurna range of the Himalayas. Starting from Pokhara, a 90 minute drive in a
taxi drops us off at the beginning of the trek and then goes up from there. My
guide, Raj, was absolutely awesome and provided a lot of great information about
the area during our trek over the several days that this trek takes place. The
second day of the climb takes us to the small town of Ghorepani, and then an early
climb the next morning to Poon Hill.
I went on this trip in the 2nd year of the virus. According to my guide, the
number of travelers was still way down from pre-pandemic years. So, in one way, it
is a great time to travel since you will have most of the trails to yourself. The
tea houses are also pretty empty. The negative side to this is that there are
limited menu items and several places didn't have WiFi.
There are a few recommendations I would make about this trip. The first is the
ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara. I took the bus and regretted it about halfway
there. While the distance is only 200 km, it took about 8 hours on the bus. If I
were to do this again, I would have opted for a 30 minute flight. It costs more,
but is so worth it.
Second, make sure you bring toilet paper with you on the trek. The tea houses I
stayed in during my trek didn't have any. So, bringing a roll of your own is a
huge help. And speaking of bathrooms, most of the toilets along the route are not
the western style sit-down toilets. Rather they are the hole in the grounds. So,
make sure to use the bathroom before leaving the tea house since the next
western-style toilet isn't until the next guest house, which could be a half day
Finally, if you have time after the trek, spend an extra day in Pokhara. It is
much more interesting than Kathmandu.
Otherwise, the trek was wonderful and the folks at Himalayan Recreation did a
great job in staying in touch, picking me up at the airport when I arrived in
Nepal, and provided excellent service all the way through.
This trip was the first we took with those guys. It was very nice, guide was
interesting and gave us a lot information about Bhaktapur and Nepal itself.
After they arranged few more trips for us. First was Chitwan national park and
jeep safari. After Pokhara and paragliding. And then return to Kathmandu. It was
very helpful to have someone local there who can arrange flights, pick ups, all
the activities and return wherever needed.
We didn't have more time, but all the time we had, they managed to organize for
us, without stressing or worrying.
I truly recommend them, because they are very responsible and helpful for any
situation. I firstly met them in Kathmandu for our first trip and they helped us
with all the others.

Today you will be starting a day after breakfast in a guided tour visiting the ancient historical and spiritual sites in Kathmandu, popularly known as the city of temples. Explore the four main attractions of Kathmandu valley enlisted in UNESCO world heritage sites. Begins the trips making way to Kathmandu Durbar square; the heart of Kathmandu with dozens of religious temples. Look at the incredible creation of architecture carved in palaces, arts on wooden doors and windows. There are many religious sites to be explored such as Kal Bhairav temple, Ashok Binayak temple, Shova Bhagwati, Mahadev-Parbati temple and also the Kumari Ghar - home to the living goddess. Next visit Pashupatinath temple, a sacred religious temple most important Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva situated on the banks of Bagmati river. And then to Swayambhunath stupa, the oldest stupa of Nepal and also popularly known as Monkey temple. The monastery, statues and Harati temples are some other attractions of this place. The last destination of the day will be Boudhanath stupa, the largest stupa in the world where the Tibetan people preserved this cultural heritage site without disgrace its artistic value. After learning more historical information return back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Enjoy your flight of 90 minutes to Nepalgunj, the far southwest of Nepal. Close to the Indian border, Nepalgunj is one of the busiest crowded cities in Nepal. Nepalgunj, only Gateway to Mount Kailash, Holy lake Mansarovar, amazingly beautiful lake Shey-Phoksundo, widely sprawled lake Rara and to some of the world's most beautiful, scenic and adventurous trekking routes and lakes of astonishing beauty! Today, you will take another flight to Simikot-one of the remote location in Nepal, the flight is about 35 minutes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of forests, land, houses and many others during the fights. After then, meet a crew member who will assist us on the journey. As the journey starts the trekking takes place by climbing up from the airstrip and passing through the rocky trail. see the fields of barley and wheat when ascending towards the forests ridge above the Simikot town. Descend along steep and pass Dandaphoya. Continue your trail through the walnut and apricot trees until you reach Dharapokhari village. Overnight at guesthouse.
Leave behind Dharapokhari and head to Kermi walking relatively on flat trails along the glittering Karnali River. You will be passing through the fields of barley, buckwheat, rice and potatoes. Along the way, you will be reach at natural hot spring water where you can take a bath on hot water and enjoy soothing your gnawing bodies. After then, you will visit two popular gompas; Lhundrup Choelibg Gompa & Kermi Laikyo Gompa. Exploring both gompas you will reach today's destination Kermi. Overnight at guesthouse.
The trek to Yalbang is a flat and steep ascent until reaching a small pass and crossing a suspension bridge over the Salli River. From here you can witness the sights of the beautiful pine trees and the mighty Karnali River. Then, you will visit the remote Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Make a day delightful after a cup of tea and head towards Tumkot through an amazing trail above the Karnali River. Enjoy the lush green forest during your walk and leaving behind make a way to Tumkot through pine trees and rocky hills. Upon reaching visit Dhungkar Choezom Monastery, the most important Sakya Monasteries in Tibet region. Overnight at guesthouse.
Today is a comparatively easy walk during this trek. After walking a few miles we begin to notice the change in climate, vegetation and landscape which becomes more rocky and secluded. The trees that you see are not pine trees anymore. They are now short and low junipers. Overnight at the guesthouse.
You will cross the first pass of the trek today, the Nara La pass (4,620m). The vegetation is bleak by now and the landscape is familiar to that of Tibet. After crossing the pass you will be greeted by excellent views of the beautiful Tibetan plateau and Yari Village. From here on, it is a shaky descent down until Hilsa, a border town that is also a dropping point for the pilgrims on their way to Mt. Kailash by helicopter. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Today is the day, you will be crossing the Nepal/ Tibet border, the border is marked just by a stone pillar. After crossing, you will take a drive via Taklakot to Manasarovar. Enjoy the drive with the sights of beautiful lands and forests. Overnight at guesthouse.
Holy Mansarovar is the lake of compassion, tranquillity and bliss. After completing the memorable morning bath and puja we will be heading for Holy Mansarovar Parikrama by a land cruiser with packed lunch and continue to drive towards Tarchen (Darchen). If time permits, we visit Chui Gompa. Tarchen is considered as a base camp for Holy Kailash Parikrama. During the auspicious pilgrimage time, this place will be flooded with pilgrims with hundreds of tents all around. Overnight stay at the Guesthouse.
Today, you will be heading for Kailash yatra where the path starting from Tarchen is known as Asthapath (Way of Faith). You will walk along a rocky cliff and pass the waterfall to Dirapuk. Experience will be amazing during your walks looking wild landscape but alluring. Walking above the blue sky with a hint of a few white clouds is absolutely amazing. Witness the glimpses of Mt. Kailash along the way. Today's trek will be amazingly memorable with the great atmosphere and the sights. Overnight stay at the guesthouse.
The destination you will be reaching is Zuthulpuk, so continue the trail to Dolma La Pass. The weather might be unreliable so you have to cross as soon as possible. Upon reaching, descend towards Gauri Kund after then walking for a few minutes you will reach Zuthulpul. Overnight at guesthouse.
Early morning you will be exploring the beautiful temples, glorious shrines and the amazing Milarepa Cave. As today is the last day of Parikrama, you will be heading back to Tarchen and then to Dongba. Overnight at guesthouse.
Take a drive to Nyalam and enjoy the beautiful sights all the way. Overnight at guesthouse.
Hop on a car and leave behind the Nyalam. The drive passes through the Bhote Koshi River and crosses the Chinese – Nepalese border. After a short drive, bid our Tibetan guide goodbye. Then drive and walk to Nepalese Immigration Control in Kodari. Our Nepalese staff will complete the re-entry formalities and we drive to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.
