Welcome! You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, today. You will be received by our representative and driven to your hotel. You will get to know your tour leader and traveling companions for a pre-trip briefing about the upcoming Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra. Take it easy and get acclimatized to the local environment.

Keep this day free for the biometric procedure at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. It is one significant step towards obtaining the Tibet group visa that is necessary for the yatra of Kailash and Manasarovar. After formalities, return to your hotel and enjoy a free evening in Kathmandu. Explore local temples or shop for last-minute essentials as well.

This day is a rest and preparation day as we wait for the Tibet visa clearance. Spend the day stocking up on supplies, eating local foods, or visiting religious places in Kathmandu. This break will enable us to prepare mentally and physically for the next Kailash Manasarovar yatra experience.

Today you will have a morning cultural tour of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu Valley – Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath. In the latter half of the afternoon, the group visa and Tibet travel permits will be retrieved. Overnight hotel accommodation in Kathmandu.

Your Tibet trip starts here! Leave Kathmandu and take a scenic drive north to the border town of Timure, close to the Rasuwagadhi border. The journey goes through beautiful villages, rivers, and green hills. This is your overnight stay in Nepal before going to Tibet.

This is the day you will cross the Nepal-Tibet border in the morning and enter China. Proceed after clearing immigration and customs and drive to Kerung, the gateway town of Tibet. The remainder of the day is spent acclimatizing to high altitude. This is an essential activity of Manasarovar yatra for a safe and successful journey.

Today's drive across the windswept reaches of the Tibetan Plateau, through rolling hills and high-altitude desert. Arrive in Saga, a tiny town that serves as a resting place for pilgrims en route to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Overnight at a basic Saga hotel.

This is one of the most spiritually enriching days of your 15 days Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025/2026. Drive through scenic landscapes to Lake Manasarovar, a sacred lake believed to wash away sins and bring about spiritual enlightenment. On arrival, participate in ritual bathing (weather permitting) and meditation on the shores of the lake. Overnight at a guesthouse near Manasarovar.

After a peaceful morning at Lake Manasarovar, you’ll drive to Darchen, the base town for the Mount Kailash trek. Darchen is the starting point of Mount Kailash Parikrama, a sacred circumambulation around the holy peak. Use the day to rest, prepare for the trek, and acclimatize further. Overnight at a guesthouse in Darchen.

Today, you will begin the much-anticipated Mount Kailash Kora, one of the most memorable experiences of Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra. The walk begins with a smooth climb via the beautiful Yam Dwar valley and concludes at Dirapuk Monastery, with a most breathtaking view of the north face of Kailash. Overnight pilgrim guesthouses stay in Dirapuk.

This is the most challenging day of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. You’ll cross Dolma La Pass, the highest point of the trek, covered with fluttering prayer flags and surrounded by intense spiritual energy. After the descent, pass by Gauri Kund, a sacred lake. Reach Zutulpuk, known for its meditation caves. Overnight at a guesthouse.

End your trek with a short walk to Chasang, where a jeep will pick you up and drive back to Darchen. After a short break and lunch, drive back on the familiar route to Saga for a well-deserved night's rest. This is the conclusion of your Yatra of Kailash and Manasarovar.

Retrace your trek through the peaceful Tibetan landscape to reach Kerung on the Nepal border. The day allows for a gradual descent and some more recovery from high-altitude exertion. Overnight guesthouse in Kerung.

Cross back into Nepal and enjoy a scenic drive to Kathmandu. After the spiritual fervor of Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra, the luxury of Kathmandu hotels will feel like a prize. Enjoy a farewell dinner or shop for souvenirs. Overnight stay in a hotel in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, our team will drop you to the international airport for your onward flight back home. Your Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025/2026 concludes on a peaceful note with imprinted memories forever, an enhanced energy level, and a deeper spiritual connection.

                                Know Before You Go

Best Season for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra in 2026/2027

The best season for the Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra is May to September, when the weather in the Tibetan Plateau is its most stable and accessible for tourists. Below is the monthly breakdown of the weather:

                                • May–June: Comfortable weather, clear sky, and green landscapes. Ideal for spiritual as well as scenic experiences.
                                • July–August: Warmest months, but with frequent rain. However, roads remain open, and it is a peak spiritual time because of festivals like Saga Dawa.
                                • September: Cold but nice. Less tourist crowds and better visibility of the mountains.
                                • Off-Season (October–April): The region experiences severe cold, heavy snowfall, and limitations of travel.

All overland routes are closed during winter, and traveling is not recommended due to safety concerns.

Food and Drinking Water during the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra

During the Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra, all food is vegetarian out of respect for the sacred spiritual goal of the trek. Buffet food during the stay in Kathmandu is rice, lentils, vegetables, chapatis, fruits, and light snacks. While on the trek to Tibet, the food gets simpler but nutritious—soup, noodles, rice, bread, boiled vegetables, and Tibetan-style local food are the norm.

At Lake Manasarovar and during Kailash Parikrama, it is plain food. Our team provides hot, freshly cooked vegetarian meals for ease of digestion at high altitudes. You can also have instant noodles, tea, soup, porridge, and potatoes that have been boiled.

As for the water, you can have boiled water; bottles can be refilled at teahouses and rest stops and mineral/bottled water can be purchased in larger settlements like Saga and Darchen. We highly recommend carrying water purification tablets or a portable filter for added safety.

Accommodation during the Yatra of Kailash and Mansarovar

The level of accommodation during the Kailash and Mansarovar Yatra varies depending on location. In Kathmandu, you’ll stay in 3-star or similar standard hotels with attached bathrooms, hot showers, Wi-Fi, and electricity.

In Kyirong, you will have simple private or twin rooms, shared bathrooms, only limited hot water, and intermittent electricity. In larger towns in Tibet, you will have economy-class hotels or lodges with clean beds, simple amenities, availability of electricity for charging, and limited Internet at extra cost.

As for Lake Manasarovar and Parikrama, you will be staying in dormitory-type rooms or communal guesthouses with very minimal facilities, typically no en-suite bathrooms. Electricity may be restricted, and there is no Wi-Fi.

Difficulty Level of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra

The Yatra of Kailash and Mansarovar is graded as moderate to challenging due to the high elevation and remote terrain of Tibet.

The hike reaches as much as 5,630 meters on Dolma La Pass. Altitude sickness is a common concern. You should expect 6–9 walking hours daily on rough, rocky terrain for the 3-day Kailash Parikrama. The terrain is a mix of dirt roads, mountain trails, and glacial pathways. This 15 days itinerary is best for individuals with prior trekking experience or good cardiovascular endurance.

You can prepare yourself for the journey by daily physical conditioning (walking, climbing hills, stairs) and acclimatization to altitude.

All You Need to Know About Altitude Sickness

Kailash and Manasarovar Yatra involve trekking and traveling at altitudes of more than 4,500 m, with Dolma La Pass (5,630m) as the maximum altitude. Altitude sickness is a real risk, even for experienced trekkers.

The symptoms of altitude sickness are headache, nausea, dizziness, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Some of the ways to minimize the risk of altitude sickness are:

                                • Gradual ascent and extra days for acclimatization.
                                • Drink plenty of water—hydration is essential.
                                • Avoid alcohol and overexertion.
                                • Gradual trekking and rest when necessary.

Our 15 days Kailash Manasarovar Yatra trek is planned to ensure your safety by having acclimatization days. Our guides are trained to watch for your health, administer oxygen, and take prompt action if needed.
