Had the most amazing trek with my twin brother. We both turned 40 on the first day of the trek and it was organised to coincide with this occasion.

Firstly it is not the easiest of trek. It requires both metal and physical strength to complete this trek.

We were told that this is the off season however it worked out great for us. The weather was great considering the season, lot less crowd both on the trek and lodges which was perfect.

This was by far physically the hardest thing I have personally done and there were times when I was close to backing out.

Our guide Bharat was full of encouragement and ensured we completed the trek. His knowledge of the area and local establishments was exceptional. He varied the pace to suit all of us and also ensured that we had the sherpas with us when we were struggling to keep up. He also ensured that we were in good shape to carry on the next day with a constant reminder of do and dont's and updating us on the programme every night. Bharat is truly passionate and professional as a guide and always ensured we were well informed, well fed and fit to carry on.

The company was also great in organising this trek, pick up and drop off etc.

I have no hesitation in recommending Himalayan Trekking and Bharat to anyone.

Once again I would like to thank all for the truly exceptional time we have had, not just while trekking to base camp but also in Kathmandu.

  • rating starA great & well organised experience

I highly recommend Himalayan recreation to anyone planning to trek to the Annapurna Basecamp. Everything from start to finish was all taken care of, taking away all of the stress of organisation so that I could focus on enjoying the trek.

Ashok was very responsive on whatsapp at all times and was able to adapt the tour when circumstances changed. For example, when my flight to Pokhara was cancelled, Ashok arranged for a friendly driver to take me all the way there by private car instead (I did have to wait 1.5 hours for the driver, but traffic in Kathmandu is difficult). My guide Santosh and porter Bal were very friendly and accommodating and were good company during the trek. They have the English skills required to answer the majority of questions, particularly relating to the trek. Overall, a very good experience.

The trek itself is very beautiful. It has everything, including rural villages with rice terraces, bamboo forests, and epic mountains. The accommodation is basic but everything you need for a trek (much better than camping). The weather forecast is inaccurate - I enjoyed decent weather despite the forecast being constant rain/thunder. I found the difficulty to be much easier than others state, and could have completed the trek in 5-6 days. Almost anyone with a decent level of fitness would be able to complete this trek (adjusting the duration to accommodate).

  • rating starEverest Base Camp Trek in May -- Trip of a lifetime!

My boyfriend and I did the 11-day Everest Base Camp trek with Himalayan Recreation in May 2019. The trip exceeded all of our expectations. Don't get me wrong, it's a tough hike (we nicknamed it the "6 hour+ a day Stairmaster!" and we both lost some weight), but hiking through the Himalayas with so many of the world's tallest mountains was incredible. Himalayan Tours does a great job setting everything thing up. They met us at the airport in Kathmandu and took us to our hotel, a welcome relief after a long flight from the USA. They had everything set up for a flight to Lukla and then they had a fabulous itinerary for the trek. Our guide, Raju, spoke excellent English and knew how to make us laugh in some rough moments on the trail when we got tired. Raju figured out what kind of food we liked and would tailor our stops accordingly (be warned: there is not much meat on the trail!) We started calling Raju "the mayor" since he seemed to know pretty much everyone on the trail and in every little town where we stopped. He made sure we had the best rooms in each tea house or the best seats by the evening fire.

Our trip was extra special as we got engaged at Everest Base Camp. Raju and a friend of his took photos and video for us that were magical. We are forever grateful to them for not only being great guides but also extremely good photographers!!! The hike down was tough (we did it in 3 days...I highly recommend doing the trek in 12 to 14 days so you aren't so rushed.) But we made it and Raju helped ensure we got out of Lukla on the first flight so we could make our connection in Kathmandu.

I was really impressed with Himalayan Recreation. They also gave us each shirts (very helpful when all your other stuff is dirty at the end of the trek, not to mention a good keepsake!) and a certificate at the end to say we had completed the hike. They also had connections with some of the best sherpas who helped to carry luggage along the way (at first we were conflicted about someone carrying our main pack, but we learned they make pretty good money doing it and our sherpa could carry two big bags and still beat us up the mountain most days).

This is a tough hike but if you are in moderately good shape you can do it (I do recommend getting Diamox or buying some on the trek to handle the altitude). Our guide Raju was very good at encouraging us when we needed it or slowing down when we needed breaks. He also told us a lot about Nepal -- its history, culture, economy, politics, etc. If you are looking for a trip that will literally push you to new heights, this is it.

I booked this trek with a grab one in New Zealand. Once I had the voucher I made all arrangements directly with Himalayan recreation. Book with confidence, theywere very prompt in their replies to me and delivered everything as promised and arranged. Our guides for this trek were Bharat Nyaupane and Suresh Thapa. They had good back up support from Himalayan Recreation throughout the trip. They worked very hard to accommodate everyones individual needs - and wants- within our diverse group. They were very flexible which was above and beyond what should be expected of structured group travel. They showed genuine care and made all arrangements when I, and other members of the group, needed urgent medical assistance. Our porters were also exceptional, friendly interactive and helpful. A couple of the porters also stepped up to personally guide myself and some of the others to accommodate the differences in physical abilities throughout our group and to also allow some side trips outside of the itinerary that some members wanted to undertake. Personally I thank Nikomar who stepped into this role for me. My trip with Himalayan recreation was unforgettable and I am genuinely honoured to have spent time with these guides and porters in such a magical place. Paula, NewZealand

The adventure I had with Himalayan Recreation was amazing and the arrangement of the tour was far more than I expected. My flight from Bangkok was delayed for one hour, and I had to wait at the custom for another two hours so the driver had to wait for me for three hours in total. Our guides, Bharat and Suresh were very helpful during the trek. We received personalized services although we were in a big group of 14 people. Bharat was the best guide I ever met. He was genuinely caring and knowledgeable, he made the trip a lot more enjoyable to all the guests including me. I highly recommend Bharat as a guide for anyone who wants to do the trek. Due to my health issue, I had to stop at Thukla and went down for a proper medical treatment in a hospital in Pheriche. Bharat had assigned a porter - Uttar to accompany me. Uttar had done an incredible job as a porter, a guide and a life saver. I truly appreciate his great support during my trip. Since I had to go down to rest, Uttar even provided me with extra service by taking me to Ama Dablam base camp which was not including in the itinerary. I was amazed by his kindness and knowledge. I am very pleased with the services provided by Himalayan Recreation. Thank you, Nhung, Bishnu, Bharat and Uttar

The company is reliable and the organisation was very good.

Our lovely guide - Bharat - is an experienced and knowledgeable professional, providing every member of the expedition with an individual treatment. And our porter Uttar was brightening our mornings with his smile every day.

Trekking pacing was adjusted to the participants, the accomodation was decent (considering general standards in the area) with a lot of food options, regarding each one's needs.

The tour itself is exactly as described (facilities, service included).
I'd definitely repeat some other trekking with Himalayan Recreation

  • rating starSuccess is not all yours

One of my dreams since i was a kid was to climb and submit Mr. Everest. Not everyone is able to do it, specially at my age. After i got the chance to trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) with the support of my family (they were very worried) because as it seems like just a trek, well it is not just a trek specially when you trek on high altitude. This is when you really need the local support of the expert on it.
Based on this last commet i must express my endless gratitude to those who make possible my successful trek to the Everest Base Camp. Without the help, guide, support and counseling of My super guide Santosh and my potter Khem, i will never reach my goal.
Santosh is a local guy from Kathmandu who has not only been guiding me, but also caring about every single thing that i may need that will make me feel confortable in the middle of nowhere with limited access to facilities we are used to, even knowing where we were heading up. He was not just a guide, he became my photographer some times, my doctor, my friend (thank you for inviting me to meet your lovely family) and even my extra potter when things got extremely hard... Santosh, i can tell that my success was highly because of you.. as you said, your success is my success..indeed you are right!
Even when the trip finished, you are still taking care of me and making sure that i am ok at a unknown but fascinating country as Nepal is.
By the other side, i didn’t have time enough to share with my strong buddy Khem. My Potter. Even we didn’t speak the same language we could understand each other by gestures and with the help of Santosh (translating). This person (Khem) got all my respect speacially when i knew his age. 50 years old and carrying my bag? really makes a shame on me. He with 3 kids too, have been doing this job for 27 years. All my respect to him. This guy as strong as a rock and always cares about any thing that he could do in those short times we could hang out each other because a cultural matter. They, the potters were not allowed to stay with the guest in the same dinning room some times(some may said because a matter of space, but really even having enough space, lets say that some people (other guest) just felt uncomfortable with their presence. Rule i was happy to break any time that i could (we are all human been with different realities) .
And finally and not last important Mr. Bishnu who have been remotely taking care about any logistic of my trip.
If you ask me if i recommend this company for any trip to Nepal, Buthan or the Tibet i would say that you will regret if you don’t consider at least this company.
Some of this people i might not see again in my life but you will always remains in my gratitude and memories.
