  • rating starManaslu circuit!! Amazing. Best guiding company in Nepal :)

My 3rd trek with Himalyan Recreatio!. I met Bishnu my first visit to Nepal in 2012. EBC, Langtang, and now Manaslu - all different guides and all amazing. This year, April 2019 I did the Manaslu circuit with three of my girlfriends from the USA along with Raju, Bhim and Ramsharan. What an extremely kind crew and they all made our time so enjoyable. They made sure we were always comfortable, cared about our safety, and mostly just wanted us to have a memorable holiday! Plus Manaslu is THE BEST. So beautiful. Thanks and can't wait for next year!!!

After a gift of 2 yrs ago I finally made it.
Although the use by time had passed Bishnu still honoured this voucher with minor changes.
Arriving alone in KTM Santos collected me from the airport and immediately made me feel welcome.
2 days later after a city (Temple) tour Santos & Suresh picked me up from my hotel and together we traveled by bus to Pokhara (7hr Nepalese bus massage). A very interesting trip with great local scenery.
We were to do the ABC trek however as we progressed it was becoming obvious that this trip was too dangerous due to recent snow and avalanche conditions.
After Tedapani Santos advised that we could carry on and hope ABC would open or we could redirect to Mardi Himal and be sure to reach my goal of 4000+m.
This made a day of 8-9 hrs on the hoof with the last 2hrs of steep assent. (In the end this was probably my favourite day)
A great choice of deviation as this is a lesser traveled route with very local quaint tea houses along the way.
After achieving our goal of 4200m it was photos (and mini movie) and the journey back to Pokhara.
A most enjoyable 10 days on foot and 2 days travelling.
Thank you Suresh for carrying my pack and keeping Santos up to a good walking pace.
Thank you Santos for keeping up and making this bucket list trip so enjoyable and fun along the way.
If ever I return Santos, Suresh and Bishnu will be my first contact and hopefully travel companions again.
Thank you for a great time.

Best vacation of my life made possible by the staff of Himalayan Recreation. To begin with- driving in Nepal is no joke... but we felt as "safe" as we could with our drivers and the expertise with which they navigated the insane streets of Katmandu and beyond. Our guides Susan and Ashok were extremely informative, professional and friendly. The trek itself was all the better because Ashok felt like a friend. He was extremely charismatic. A smile (almost) never left his face... except only when dealing with an injury. His quick reaction and knowledge of local flora helped our friend recover pretty quickly from a bad incounter with a boulder. I can't sing enough praises about Ashok and the staff of Himalayan Recreation. I would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in trekking in Nepal

  • rating starGreat Experience! Best Tour Company & Staff in Nepal...

I have traveled to Nepal several times - to Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara and the Annapurna Circuit. On my third trip to Nepal, I met Ashok from Himalayan Recreation - Day Tours and we began planning my trek in the Annapurna region.

Ashok was very patient with me and answered every one of my questions in detail, months before the trek was to begin. When I returned to Nepal, I linked up with him and we started my custom adventure. I only had a limited amount of time, so Ashok and his team planned a ten day trek for me with some time at the end to rest in Pokhara at a really nice hotel.

The trek was amazing! Unfortunately, I'm not in as good shape physically as I used to be...but Askok adjusted the pace for me, slowing a bit when climbing elevation and speeding up on the level sections. This was key and really assured me that I'd found the right guide and the right company.

We stayed in some amazing guest houses along the way and created memories that I will never forget.

Since coming home, I have recommended Himalayan Recreation - Day Tours to everyone and I still feel the same way. This is a great company to do business with, and now that I have met them and worked with them, I will use them every time I return to Nepal.

My first visit to Nepal and my husbands 8th, we were blown away by the hospitality shown to us. Arriving a day early, it was no problem for them to arrange a pick up and transfer to our hotel. The first day we were given a local tour of Kathmandu which was very interesting however somewhat cramped in the 4 wheel drive for 6 Aussies with a driver and a guide. The crematorium sounded somewhat strange as a tourist destination but turned out to be very interesting. Evidence of the 2015 earthquake is everywhere and they have done an amazing job to rebuild/mend what they have. The bus ride to Pokhara to start our trek is long and very bumpy but all part of the experience. Pokhara itself is a charming town by the lake and it would be easy to spend a few days there relaxing.
TREKKING: We knew there was to be a lot of walking by the itinerary and prepared accordingly, however there are a LOT, repeat, LOT of stairs, not just the first day or two, but everyday up AND down. It is all doable however, and your fitness level will determine how well you recover each day. So when you get to the peak of a hill rest assured you will at some point have to then go back down to the river to cross over and then go back up again. (I think I had the misguided idea that there would be a more or less consistent uphill gain with small downhill losses as we walked towards Annapurna Base camp, silly me!).
Poon Hill from Ghorepani could be avoided by taking an early exit from Ghorepani and viewing sunrise over Dhaulagiri from the trail at the first tea stop, breakfast could be a packed deal from the tea house so they don't miss out on their profit. As for the Parks office at Poon Hill they might miss out but there are hundreds of trekkers who make this trip as many do not continue onto ABC as they are all going different ways, so they probably won't suffer too much. Just an idea if you are travelling independently.
This trip is quite easy in that every tea house has a wide variety of food and drink. And the tea houses are usually about an hour apart at worst. Perhaps the trip to Ulleri has the longest gap between tea houses. It gets a bit more expensive the further you go but still by western standards very affordable and very much appreciated. Hot lemon, cold lemon, ginger tea, milk coffee and beer! There is filtered water available most places or running water and just use your puritabs. And the push to minimize the use of bottled water and bring your own reusable water botlle is definitely a good one, so included in that should be the purchase of soft drinks unless they are in glass bottles - too much plastic leaves the locals with a huge problem. The dal baht is yummy! and there is always more so very good value for money if you are on any sort of budget. And if you are cold most even have extra quilts if needed. A rest day would probably have been a nice addition or possibly two shorter days on the way up. The hot springs at Jhinu Danda is well worth it after all your hard walking.
For the price we could not have done this trek any cheaper.
The most surprising thing to me was how warm/hot it was on the trek. This was October and walking in the jungles was steamy and included lots of flies. Nights got colder as we ascended, and unfortunately I didn't make ABC as my husband got too sick... next time. However the rest of our group did make it and survived.
Ashok, our guide, spoke brilliant English, was well organised and very welcoming to our group. Our porters - Bihm, Santos and Modan simply great guys (sorry we brought far too much gear for them to carry) and getting to spend more time with Ashok his wife and Bihm after our trek during Doshain was an absolute bonus, thanks again. We are currently planning a return trip for 2019 and highly recommend Himalayan Recreation Treks and Expeditions.

  • rating starEverest Base camp, EBC and Gokyo Lake Chola Pass Trekking

Our 17 Day in Nepal was one of the best time in our life. We chose this Everest Base camp, EBC and Gokyo Lake Chola Pass Trekking packages from Himalayan Recreation by the advice of Mr Bishnu. Before we were just looking for Everest Base camp but my friend want to go Gokyo lake but I had dream to go EBC sand I was afraid by Chola pass (5400m), when Bishnu convinced me that wont be matter then i confirmed this trip with them and now i find it was my right decision. it was our first adventure journey and did not know much about Nepal so we follow Himalayan Recreation and they did all for our betterment. A guide provided by a company was understandable, Helpful and flexible. And familiar there local people, that made us secured in Nepal.
Since the second day, we started to see a great view of mountains including Everest all the way up and down. Most recommend please is Kalapattha 5555m, and Gokyo lake in this trip but the Base camp was not as we expected because there was cloudy.
All the thanks to the team for such a wonderful trip, will back soon!

  • rating starGreat Gokyo Lake / chola pass trek

"Nothing is impossible", Me and my friend just finished 18 - day Groyo LAke and chola pass trek in the everest region. I had knee problem before strating the trip and I was a bit afraid about my health condition because it is really challenging to walk above 5000m height in the Himalayas. The mountain views were stunning and landscape was beautiful. Highly recommended experience !
